OUR POLICIES

Attendance

Delegates are expected to remain in their committees for both Committee Sessions I and II. While delegates are allowed to leave the committee for brief periods, they are prohibited from leaving the school building without dismissal from the Directors-General or other StuyMUNC staff.

Electronics

Electronic devices are expressly forbidden from committee while in session. All committee documents (working papers, notes, and speeches) must be received on paper, handwritten.

Decorum

Decorum, defined as behavior in good taste, is expected throughout the miniMUNC day. Any delegate known to have exhibited disruptive, harassing, or abusive behavior in or out of committee will have the guardian listed on their registration notified and may be dismissed from the conference at the Secretariat's discretion.

Pre-Written Documents

Pre-written documents, including but not limited to: pre-written working papers, pre-written operative or preambulatory clauses, pre-written notes, and pre-written directives are expressly forbidden. Model UN simulations are meant to simulate the real-time environment of a given committee tasked with resolving a certain issue. As such, a delegate presenting work done without such time constraints as though it is the product of present collaboration undermines the value of work done by other delegates during committee. However, pre-conference research and speech planning is not only allowed but highly encouraged.  Delegates are also permitted to collaborate amongst themselves during the lunch break should they find time to do so.

Position Papers

miniMUNC does not require position papers, however, should you write one, email it to your chair! Position papers must be emailed to your dais at least one week before the conference for guaranteed feedback (using the email addresses provided in the background guide). They must be in 12-point, single-spaced Times New Roman font. The document name must be in the format "COMMITTEE_COUNTRY/POSITION_SCHOOL".

Dress Code

Delegates are expected to wear Western business attire (WBA) for all committee sessions (closed-toed shoes, dress/dress shirt, and skirt or slacks for those who wish to dress in traditionally female attire and a dress shirt, tie and slacks for those wishing to dress in traditionally male attire).

Nametags

To ensure safety, delegates must wear their name tags while at miniMUNC. Should a delegate misplace their name tag, they may ask their dais or any StuyMUNC staff for a replacement.

Loss of Belongings

miniMUNC cannot take responsibility for the loss of any personal belongings. However, should a delegate lose something of value, they may ask their dais or other StuyMUNC staff for aid in making announcements on the lost item and searching for it throughout committee rooms.

Assault, Harassment, Discrimination

Any conference participant (be they delegate, conference staffer, or dais member) found to have harassed, assaulted, or discriminated against a conference participant or school official will be immediately dismissed from the conference at the discretion of the  Secretariat, and the guardian noted on their registration will be notified. Reports of misconduct may be made in the form of a note to the dais. Should a delegate prefer a different route of reporting misconduct (harassment, assault or discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, age, or disability), they may email stuyvesanthsmodelun@gmail.com.

If you're feeling lost while preparing for miniMUNC, feel free to check out our delegate guide! It includes the schedule for the conference, the location of committees, tips for conference preparation, and resources to use during the conference. Delegates will also be given a print-out of the guide upon checking-in to the conference on the day of.
